4. File Upload Terms and Conditions
Critical Upload Agreement
By uploading any file to Scientific-editing.ai, you explicitly agree to all terms in this section. Upload constitutes acceptance of these terms.
4.1 Ownership and Rights

You own or have the right to upload all manuscripts and files you submit
You have obtained all necessary permissions from co-authors, institutions, or rights holders
Your content does not infringe on any third-party intellectual property rights, copyrights, patents, or trademarks
You have the authority to grant us the license described in Section 4.2
Your content is not confidential to any third party without their permission
4.2 License Grant
By uploading content to our service, you grant Scientific-editing.ai a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to:
Store your manuscripts on our secure servers
Process your manuscripts through our proprietary analysis systems
Generate edited versions and review reports
Display your manuscripts to you through your account
Make temporary copies necessary for processing and backup
Important: This license is solely for the purpose of providing you with our editing service. We do not acquire ownership of your content, and this license terminates when you delete your files or close your account.
4.3 What We Do NOT Do With Your Files
No AI Training: Your manuscripts are NEVER used to train, fine-tune, or improve AI models
No Public Sharing: Your content is never made public or shared with other users
No Third-Party Sales: We do not sell, license, or distribute your content to third parties
No Republication: We do not republish or submit your work anywhere
No Derivative Works: We do not create derivative works for our own use or commercial purposes
4.4 File Format and Size Restrictions
Uploaded files must meet the following requirements:
Format: Microsoft Word (.docx) format only
Size: Maximum 100MB per file
Starter Tier: Maximum 25,000 words per document, 2 manuscripts per month (fully visible comments limited to just the first 500 words)
Content: Must be scientific or academic manuscripts
4.5 Single Manuscript Requirement
Each uploaded document must contain only ONE manuscript. Documents containing multiple manuscripts, papers, or articles are strictly prohibited.
One Paper Per File: Each .docx file must contain a single, complete manuscript
Multiple Papers Prohibited: Files containing 2+ manuscripts (e.g., "Paper1.docx" and "Paper2.docx" combined into one file) will be rejected, or only the first manuscript will be processed
Detection: Our system automatically detects multiple manuscripts by analyzing document structure, title patterns, abstract sections, and reference lists
Processing Policy: If multiple manuscripts are detected, only the FIRST manuscript will be edited and returned. Subsequent manuscripts in the same file will be ignored
Proper Submission: To have multiple papers reviewed, upload each as a separate file (subject to your tier's monthly limits)
Why This Policy Exists: This ensures fair usage across all tiers, prevents quota circumvention, and maintains processing quality. Attempting to bypass limits by combining manuscripts may result in account suspension.
4.6 Prohibited Content
You may NOT upload files that contain:
Illegal, harmful, or fraudulent content
Malware, viruses, or malicious code
Content that infringes on intellectual property rights
Personally identifiable information of others without consent
Content that violates export control or sanctions laws
Classified or restricted government information
Content that promotes violence, hate speech, or discrimination
Plagiarized or fabricated research data
Violation of these prohibitions may result in immediate account termination and legal action.
4.7 Data Retention and Deletion
You have full control over your uploaded files:
Retention: Files are stored until you delete them or close your account
Deletion: You can delete files at any time from your dashboard
Account Closure: All files are permanently deleted within 30 days of account closure
Backup Copies: Backup copies are deleted within 90 days

Edited versions are generated and stored in your account

4.8 Your Responsibilities
You are solely responsible for:

Reviewing and verifying all suggestions

Maintaining backup copies of your original files
5. Subscription Plans and Payment
5.1 Subscription Tiers
We offer the following subscription tiers:
Starter: Up to 25,000 words per manuscript (fully visible comments limited to just the first 500 words), 2 manuscripts per month
Professional ($99.99/month): 5 manuscripts OR 100,000 words per month (whichever comes first), 25,000 words maximum per document, high-priority processing, multi-stage review workflow
Subscriptions renew automatically on a monthly basis
You authorize us to charge your payment method on file
Prices are in USD and subject to change with 30 days notice
All fees are non-refundable except as required by law
5.3 Cancellation and Refunds
You may cancel your subscription at any time:
Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period
You retain access to paid features until the period ends
No refunds are provided for partial months
You can reactivate your subscription at any time
5.4 Starter Tier Limitations
Starter tier users are subject to:
25,000-word maximum per manuscript
2 manuscript reviews per calendar month
Monthly limit resets on the 1st of each month
Documents exceeding 25,000 words will be rejected before processing
Standard priority processing (lower than Professional and Enterprise tiers)
6. Intellectual Property Rights

You retain all ownership rights to your manuscripts and content. We do not claim any ownership over your intellectual property.

Scientific-editing.ai and all related trademarks, logos, and service marks are owned by us. You may not use our branding without written permission.
6.3 Edited Output
The edited manuscripts and review reports generated by our service are provided to you for your use. You own the edited output, but we retain the right to the underlying algorithms and processes.

Proactive Reporting: We will proactively notify law enforcement of any material submitted or posted that indicates abuse of a minor, credible threats of harm against any person, or other serious illegal activity
Sanctions Compliance: We comply with all sanctions and restrictions imposed by the U.S. Department of the Treasury, Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), and other applicable government agencies
